RIVERFIELD SCHOOL'S DROP OFF & PICK UP PROCEDURES

IMPORTANT LINKS

Dear Parents,
Our number one expectation and responsibility is to see that your child is safe at all times while in our care. I hope this memo clarifies our morning drop off and afternoon pick up procedures. My thanks to Nora Fanning, PTA President, for the format of the information.

Some important things to remember:

  • The maximum speed limit on campus is 10 mph.
  • Only park in designated visitor spaces.
  • Please follow the directions of our staff on morning duty at all times.
  • The basketball lot beyond the wing is for parking and walking your child to the building. THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF AREA.
  • The Kiss and Go driveway is the safest and most convenient place to drop off your child.
  • Saving a few minutes by speeding or dropping off your child in an unauthorized area is not worth risking injury to our children.
  • Please cooperate with these procedures so we can keep everyone safe.

Thank you all very much.
Paul M. Toaso

DESIGNATED PARKING SPOTS

If you are parking your car then you must accompany your child to a school door. If you do not want to accompany your child to the school then please use the Kiss & Go Drop Off.

  • You may park in the Upper Parking Lot.
  • You may parallel park in the Spots Across From School (cones are blocking off spots for safety reasons – this is a blind turn)
  • You may park on Lakeside Drive.
  • You may PARK in the Basketball Court. WARNING: THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF AREA. PARK YOUR CAR and walk your child to the school.
  • The Fire Zone/Lane in front of the buses is not a drop off area.

Q&A

Can I use the basketball court/blacktop to drop off my child? You may NOT use this area to drop off your child. Pulling up and dropping a child off in a busy lot is dangerous. You MUST park your car and walk your child to his or her class. Even in inclement weather you must park or use the designated Kiss & Go area.

My child’s classroom is in the back of the school can I cut through anywhere to get to the blacktop? Yes. You may enter the main doors, cut through the APR and exit at the double doors near the gym. Please do not walk through the faculty lot ever.

My child forgot something in his/her classroom at dismissal can we re-enter the building? You may walk your child to his/her exterior door (if they are in the wing walk them to the wing doors in the back (not the front double doors the busers are using) and your child may go back inside to retrieve the item.

Don’t you think the Kiss & Go Drop Off takes too long? We can only unload 2 cars at a time. Please wait until you are by the flag pole to unload. Give yourself plenty of time in the morning. We are limited to our drop off procedures due to the design of our school driveway and parking lot. Kiss & Go is the best option we have to safely get children to class. No child should be dropped off in the Staff parking lot or before you are the 1st or 2nd car in line.

If I use Kiss & Go can my children enter the building in inclement weather? Absolutely! If it is inclement weather please tell your children to enter the main doors and walk directly to class. Even the younger students are capable of this.

My child needs to be at school for an early activity (Kids Care, Chess Club, Orchestra, etc…) do I need to follow the same procedures? Yes! You must follow the same safety guidelines as you would at a regular drop off time.
