PARENT SUPPORT NEEDED FOR RIVERFIELD RENOVATIONS
PLEASE ATTEND BOS MEETING ON 2/8 & SEND SUPPORT EMAILS
The Riverfield building project is the only item on the agenda for the BOS meeting on Wednesday, February 8th @ 4:00 p.m. at Sullivan Independence Hall. We know this is a challenging time of the day for you, but parent support is crucial at this stage of the project. If you can attend - please do so.
We also need as many Riverfield parents as possible (even if you are attending the meeting) to SEND EMAILS OF SUPPORT to our Selectman: Michael Tetreau at mtetreau@town.fairfield.ct.us, Cristin McCarthy Vahey at cmccarthyvahey@town.fairfield.ct.us and James Walsh at jwalsh1000@aol.com.
Support letters/emails are best concise, factual and where appropriate includes a personal example of the need for this project. We have provided a sample email below for those parents who are in support of the project and prefer to utilize a standard showing of support.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Amy Crawford at riverfieldptapres@gmail.com

SAMPLE SUPPORT EMAIL:
Fairfield Selectman:
My name is XX and I am a Riverfield parent. I respectfully ask for your support of the Riverfield renovation and addition project. Our school is a great school but our building can no longer appropriately accommodate our students. Below is a brief sampling of reasons I ask for your support:
• Current portable classrooms are second-hand and beyond expected life cycle; more so legitimate security concerns with students passing to and from
• Children requiring special services are receiving services in hallways and closets that serve as classrooms
• APR is one of the smallest in the district and poses major challenges in accommodating all school events (fire code issues), servicing lunch (lunch serving line can exceed 10 minutes, 20 minutes allotted for lunch)
• Current cafeteria space no longer adequate, freezer currently resides in hallway
• Inadequate temperature regulation (one side of school addition wing has no access to heating vents)
I also feel it is fair and appropriate for our school to receive the proposed health and safety upgrades for items such as ceiling replacements, sprinklers, alarms, emergency lighting, fresh air circulation and air conditioning.
In our current economic times, I am highly aware that budget dollars are scarce and that the prioritization of efforts is required. I have confidence that our project is fair, necessary, reasonable and equitable amongst the other town's projects and again ask for your support.
Cordially,
